The History of Easter

Apr 11, 2022

Easter, considered the greatest Christian holiday. Although we celebrate the birth of Christ during the Christmas holidays, he proves to be the Son of God precisely after his resurrection on the third day. And in the present days, these few days in Spring are the reason for many families to gather together and have good times!

The Origins of The Holiday

The Resurrection of Christ reflects in its fullest form the Christian dogma, namely, the belief in the resurrection of the righteous in a better world. On this holiday, the Christian religion celebrates the return of Jesus Christ to life on the third day after he was crucified and buried. The myrrh-bearing women open the empty tomb, and Christ appears to Mary Magdalene and the apostles.

The celebration of the Easter holidays around the world has different customs according to folk beliefs and traditions. Eggs, Easter cake and lamb are three of the main elements of the Easter holiday table. Every year, tradition dictates that eggs be painted on Holy Thursday or Holy Saturday.

In the past, the egg has often been associated with the universe. In fact, as early as the 4th century, the consumption of eggs during fasting was forbidden. But in the spring the hens laid the most, so people started to cook them to keep them for a longer period of time. The egg has often been seen as a symbol of rebirth in the spring, and with the advent of Christianity began to be perceived as a symbol of human birth. In the Orthodox Christian world, the egg is used as a special Easter greeting, and in the Catholic world, painted eggs are hidden from children who need to find them.

Decorate Your Home and Office for Easter

Easter decorations can be made throughout the house, but at the festive table it looks most solemn. Colorful, bright and fresh Easter decorations bring mood to the rooms every spring and this is the reason why many people like to have it in their houses and workplaces. If you are one of the fans of the holiday and everything related to it, you can take advantage of these three ideas for Easter. They look amazing and you will find it hard to believe that you will be able to recreate them in just 5 minutes.

  1. Go to your nearest store that sells decorations made specially for the holiday - porcelain bunnies, painted eggs and wreaths with spring flowers. Keep in mind that you have to color coordinate the decoration with your indoors design. Especially when it comes to the living room, it will be great if you make the Easter decoration to contrast and give the festive atmosphere in your home. However, you should be careful not to overdo it.
  2. The second suggestion we have is to have your house and why not even the workplace decorated with nature’s beauty - fresh flowers. In fact, getting Easter flowers in the colors of the holiday would bring a brighter mood. And even if you don’t have the time to go to a physical floral store to get them, you can always order flowers online.
  3. Because this holiday takes place during the spring, you should bring more light into your house. Our third idea of Easter decoration is putting candles and lights around the house. Of course, you can combine the candles with flowers or porcelain bunnies, but the presence of light is of vital importance.

The tradition of giving eggs as a symbol of life and fertility began long before the Christian era, but it is Christians who give it a sense of religiosity. Then the Easter eggs represent the resurrection and life of Jesus. Like it was said in the beginning, Easter is the biggest Christian holiday. Just as Christmas decorations bring home coziness, warmth and a festive mood, so Easter decorations can create it.
